What we sell

updated Oct 21, 2026

Prices are in U.S. dollars. Any sales tax we charge is shown at checkout or on the invoice before you pay.

Individuals pay by card on this site. Organizations can pay by invoice, by bank transfer or by card.

Each product below says when it goes on sale. We take no orders for a product before that date.

Everything we sell is information. It is not legal advice or medical advice. We do not offer certified continuing medical education credit.

How orders open for law content. Each month we audit our law map. We open orders for law alerts, briefs and claim checks after two audits in a row pass. If the November and December 2026 audits both pass, orders open on Jan. 4, 2027. If not, they open the day after the second audit in a row that passes.

The Jan. 1 law module

A recorded, captioned module of about 30 minutes on the state AI laws that take effect on Jan. 1, 2027 and reach physicians, practices or hospitals. AI voices read it, and it says so. It comes with slides, a transcript and a written briefing. For each law the briefing gives the citation, who it binds, what it requires, what is unclear and questions to take to counsel. A session wrap follows each year in July.

The December edition is free. Enter a work email address to get it. It is planned for release on Dec. 15, 2026. Because it is free, there is nothing to buy, cancel or refund.

The July edition is sold. It is planned to go on sale in July 2027. We take no orders before then.

Price of the July edition: $249 for a site, meaning everyone at one facility, for 12 months. Or $99 for one person. We state the period of access for one person here before the July edition goes on sale. One-time purchase. It does not renew.

Law alerts

A checked monthly edition on the AI laws in up to five states that you choose, in a general edition or a payer edition. Each change is cited and dated, with who must act and a physician's read. Each edition lists the next 90 days of effective dates. We send a notice within two business days of a signing or a date change. Five named readers at your organization receive it. Automated alerts are added at no extra cost when they are ready.

On sale: from Jan. 4, 2027, or the day after our second clean audit if that is later, through March 31, 2027, under the Launch offer.

Price under the Launch offer: $1,500, paid in advance, for 18 months; then $1,500 a year by invoice. It does not renew automatically. The first edition is planned for March 2027. See Offer terms for the Launch offer.

Board modules

A quarterly recorded AI briefing for hospital boards. Each module is a captioned video of about 20 minutes read by AI voices, with slides as a PDF, a transcript and a written briefing of about 10 pages. The briefing opens with a one-page summary for the chair. It covers what changed this quarter, dated state pages for up to five states from our law map, the evidence on four types of tools from our grades, and questions for management. Modules are released in late January, April, July and October.

On sale: when the first module has been checked, planned for late January 2027. We take no orders before then.

Price: $1,200 a year per organization, for the four board modules and both law modules. Or $400 for one module. We state the period of access for one module here before it goes on sale. An association or network license, for the member boards of one association, is available: contact us for the price. Billed yearly, in advance.

Pre-purchase briefs and claim checks

For a hospital AI committee weighing one tool. A brief sets out the tool's published evidence, graded under our public rubric, its FDA status, the laws in your states and questions to put to the vendor. Every brief is signed by Ryan Gillum, MD, a physician, who has read it before we deliver it. The vendor never pays for a brief and never sees it. No buyer changes a public grade.

On sale: from Jan. 4, 2027, or the day after our second clean audit if that is later.

  • Claim check, $750. We test up to 10 claims the vendor makes and deliver the result in three business days.
  • Single brief, $3,000. One tool, delivered in 10 business days.
  • Comparison, $7,500. Up to four tools. It is not on the checkout yet. Ask through the contact form and we state the delivery time in writing before you pay.

Each is a one-time order. Do not send patient information with an order.

Physician in the Loop Pro

An annual membership for physicians and practice staff. Members get:

  • The AI scribe buyer's guide.
  • The prior authorization tools buyer's guide.
  • With each guide, a 30-day trial plan and a read-out template you fill in to record the time saved.
  • Recall alerts on the AI tools you use, chosen from the tools we review. We can alert only on tools we check. You can suggest another tool, but it gets no alerts unless we add it to our reviews. When we find an FDA recall posted for one of your tools, we email you. The FDA posts recalls only for products it regulates, such as medical devices, and many AI tools are not among them. Recalls are rare, so you may get few alerts or none. If nothing is posted, we send nothing. An alert does not replace notices from the FDA or the tool's maker. We can miss a recall or send an alert late, so keep receiving their notices.

Who can join: anyone with a free Physician in the Loop account that is verified by NPI or a confirmed work email address. An account opened with a stated role only can join once it is verified. You buy Pro from your signed-in account.

Reading the site stays free for account holders, and safety information stays free to everyone.

On sale: planned for Oct. 31, 2026. We take no orders before then.

Price: $199 a year, billed once a year. Pro renews automatically each year until you cancel. We email you a reminder 30 days before each renewal, and you can cancel online at any time. See Cancellation.
