Hawaii's application would build a Rural Health Information Network to "Connect all rural providers to interoperable EHRs and the statewide health information exchange for real-time care coordination" and a Pili Ola Telehealth Network to "Deploy telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and consumer-facing technology to improve prevention and chronic disease management." It also proposes to "Establish an innovation technology laboratory to develop and pilot AI applications in health care" and to "stand up a secure, AI-enabled Duals Data Dashboard."

Funding rounds

The state's funding page says "RHTP-related funding opportunities, procurement notices, and education award links will be shared here as they become available," and that opportunities for non-state entities are posted through the Hawaii Awards & Notices Data System. CMS said on Sept. 1, 2026 that Hawaii will allocate $45 million to the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine for the HOME RUN workforce initiative and $13 million to the Hawaii Department of Health for new ambulances and emergency communications. The HOME RUN workforce application lists no deadline; questions go to [email protected]. The state's funding page links an "education award application" for HOME RUN whose address could not be read, so the HBMC Foundation AHEC form listed here is not confirmed as that link.
